The resort was absolutely gorgeous. Very spacious, immaculate grounds, lovely staff, clean rooms, everything was easily accessible. Food was amazing and delicious. Cocktails had real alcohol in them and not watered down like some resorts. Restaurants are top notch. I would go back to BlueBay again and would highly recommend them. [Details]

Beach was murky and full of seaweed. Unsightly inflatable contraptions on the beach as well as pier platforms. Not sure what purpose they serve but beach would've been more aesthetically pleasing without them. Minor issue for me since I'm a pool person.

It was okay but the food was inedible and when we would eat it, we spent that night sick in the room. The drinks also tasted awful, they used a syrup rather than juice and their alcohol tastes so bad. It was completely a let down. The resort was huge which I thought there was no way they would put rooms that far from the beach, it ended up being a fine distance with the shuttle but after the first two days the shuttles couldn't be found. Also start the night time shows at 8:30 or 9!!!! [Details]

The resort is beautiful but in desperate need of TLC as room amenities were not working well (the fridge was broken - maintenance said it would be replaced but never returned). The beach and water were beyond dirty (gross); with too few chairs and those available were broken and tired. On the other hand, the people were funny and friendly, helpful and kind. Read a lot of negative reviews. But my stay here was great. Main pool was great as was the smaller one everything is only a 2 to 5 minute walk. Great overall vacation

From the minute we stepped into the lobby, we found the staff to be courteous and efficient. We were directed to the nearest restaurant (Festival buffet) for a 1/2 hour while we waited for our rooms to be ready (we arrived early so we had to wait a short time).
The Festival Buffet Restaurant proved to be quite a treat - for lunch, breakfast and the occasional dinner. The servers do not have a great command of the English language but their eagerness and friendliness makes up for that.
The rooms was good. The lack of hot water wasn't that big a deal for us - it was warm for sure. The toilets took a while to refill the tank so it couldn't be flushed more than twice in a half hour.
Everything else in the bathroom area was good - fresh towels and shampoos, etc. were provided daily.
One day one we found out coffee pot was broken and it took them all of 1 hour to replace it - fantastic service.
This resort is HUGE so if you don't like to walk a lot, then relook at another resort. We were in the quiet section Building 8 and it was a 22 minute walk to the beach. We never had an issue with grabbing a golf cart ride though, as there were plenty of these carts throughout the day and evening.
WiFi is adequate but of course, there are certain areas when WiFi isn't really great - this is the same across the country.
Restaurants were also good: we dined at the French, the Italian, the Steakhouse and the Seafood restaurant - great meals at all of them. I do want to mention again however, that the buffet restaurants (Festival and Jaal Hal) were also excellent and always offered an amazing variety for everyone.
The beach.....NOT GOOD. I walked it but wouldn't go in as it was a brown, silty substance constantly - not sure what this is all about.
The pools however, worked just fine. One thing to keep in mind however is this: don't anticipate getting a pool lounger unless you're willing to get up EARLY (6 a.m.) to reserve one. There are not enough loungers for the size of this resort. The quieter pool by Building 6-7-8 was much smaller but much quieter.
I must compliment the Entertainment Staff. They did an amazing job on the evening entertainment; the daily Yoga on the Beach; the noon aquarobics in the pool and so much more. They were all friendly, knowledgable and fun to be around.
If I go again (and I probably will) I will select Building 4-5 or 6 as it's more central and less walking.
If you are a bird watcher, then this is the place to go! Lots of bird species, monkeys, "cancun racoons" to keep you entertained. [Details]

We stayed at the resort for 7 days and we noticed the staff was mostly friendly. When we first arrived in the room, it was very musty smelling. We later had to change rooms, although this was a pain to pack everything up, the next room smelled better.
Overall the resort is showing it's age. Additional shower faucets did not work, some drawer slides in the dressers did not operate, floor tiles were broken or loose, and patio doors did not operate smoothly. The elevator in our building was very dirty and also smelled bad. A lot of thatched rooved were leaking and had gray tarps over them.
Lastly, the food. The buffet food left a lot to be desired and we did not enjoy it at all. The al-et-carte evening food was good and that part we enjoyed, except for the cats that were present in the restaurants with us during our meals.
Overall, we will not be visiting this resort gain. It was stated as a 5 star, we would rate it as a 3 star, and that is generous.

Our stay at this hotel was a disaster from start up o finish. Beginning with the lady trying to sell the time share. She woke us up by phoning us and we didn't answer we were tired. Then she arrived at the door. We had no swimming. Every chair was taken even if you arrived at 6:45 am! We had to ask for toilet paper and towels! Very Disappointing

There were 4 of us that went on this trip for my 50th birthday , expecting to relax and have a great time but instead , We had major issues related to the hotel/rooms.
Not honoring our reservation of 2 rooms with 2 beds and making us essentially lose 2 full days of enjoying our trip to sort out the issue. These 2 days were spent in the lobby.

Terrible customer service from a resort that advertises as being 4-5 star. The front desk manager (Armando) was rude when we brought our issue with the rooms to him by basically saying that reservations don't matter because they will just give us whatever rooms they want. In the end he did give us two new rooms on day two of our trip but one room was still not what we had booked - a room with two beds! Given the trouble we went through, we did not want to waste more time in the lobby and ruin our trip so we kept the room as was . We were not offered an apology or a way they could make it up to us.

The room had a strong odor of mold and mildew especially in the closet area that made our clothes smell. The A/C in the room with two beds did not work properly. The temperature was always cold and we were not able to adjust it using the wall thermostat. The air was very humid to the point that the bed sheets and pillows felt damp.

We didn't get towels and water replenished. We always had to ask to get these and it took a long time to get them delivered. Rather than having to wait for a bath towel to be delivered every time we would want to shower, we got extra towels from the pool and used those instead.
We had to wake up every morning at 5 am to get the lawn chairs at the beach and then go back to the room to sleep a bit more.

This should not be considered a 5 star hotel !!! we will not go back [Details]

This resort has many short comings. The rooms are very dated, housekeeping was horrible to nonexistent. We only had one towel for two people. They never restocked the mini fridge in the 8 days we stayed. Patio door has no lock or even a handle. Most of the lights in room did not work. They always ran out of pool towels, there was not enough lounger chairs around the pools, with no small tables for those chairs, same at the beach. The beach area was ok but the water was absolutely gross with a bunch of the breakwater things it seemed to keep the crappy water in the area, although that may not be the resorts fault. No swim up bar ( kinda sucks) not enough indoor bars ( no lobby bar at all) the food was definitely lacking in quality ( I have been to many resorts in area that all have better food) the pool was nice but strangely, not really enough stairs to enter the pool for people who can't just jump in. Golf carts to get to the beach or back to lobby were scarce and with no schedule. Not enough bathrooms and what they did have were ill placed. No beach service and only seen one person trying to serve poolside (she only served us once in 8 days) the walkways to get from one area to the other had horrible lighting and the entire resort smelled like a sewer. Two elevators in our building and neither worked. All in all, there are way better resorts to stay at then this one( for the same money) do not believe the 4-5 star rating this is a 2-3 rating at best [Details]

The front desk and reception employees told me that the Canadians are so cheap, I received so many sarcastic comments from them. I recently stayed at this resort in July 2023 and it was the worst experience I've had in Mexico by far (I have travelled to Mexico 4 times in total). When we checked in, we were given a broken room with no AC working, telephone being broken, mini fridge not working and not restocked. It took 2 hours to receive just water to the room after a long day of traveling. All the rooms appear to have painted over black mold and the bathrooms smell of mildew. Plug sockets are falling out of the wall making it dangerous to even use. There is no AC in this resort besides your room. The food was sub par. It took us 3-4 days to finally get outdoor towels as they were constantly out. We never got a chance to stay by the pool as it was always packed from 8 am if not earlier. The beach is non existent and smells strongly of rotten algae as I've read from other reviews. Most of the workers are friendly, but communication takes some time as they barely speak English. I would rate this resort a 2 at most, not the 4-5 stars they give themselves. Safe to stay I will never come back here. [Details]

This place is NOT for seniors, newborns, pregnant woman or anyone with any kind of serious health problems. Buffet restaurant and the lobby has no AC, be prepared to sweat a lot while trying to enjoy your meals. You will have to book 24 hours in advance with concierge if you wish to visit French, Seafood and Steakhouse restaurants. Be prepared to walk long distances between small pool and big pool by the ocean. Beach has a lot of seaweed and cannot be used. Some staff was friendly, while some were not and not willing to help. If you call reception for help they are very fast to transfer you somewhere else rather than listening to your needs first. We do not recommend this place at all and we will make sure our friends, family and coworkers are aware of our disappointment. Guest VIP Services will try to sell you their packages and they are very pushy and don't take NO for an answer. We brought our kid here for his 16th birthday, and he was so disappointed that this place wasn't anything like what we experienced at the Dreams Resort 3 years ago. Don't let the pictures or low price fool you, because pictures they have are old and not current conditions of the place. This place is not 4.5 stars, but it is 2 stars. My pregnant wife struggled a lot when we were at the buffet restaurant and we had to wait 3 hours and 45 minutes in the lobby for our shuttle to the airport. Please be warned as we read the reviews going back to Oct of 2022 and we saw replies thanking customers for feedback so they can improve, but nothing has been done because we went through a lot of stuff that other comments mention. This place is a safety hazard in so many ways. Roberto from Concierge is the only person that was willing to help us and listened to our needs, thank you Roberto! Worst Mexican Experience Ever

We are a group of two Canadian couples who did google research prior to booking and assumed if Google lists it a 4.5 to 5 star in Mexico, you will get a decent holiday. We were wrong, and were looking to leave within hours of landing there. Staff did not take time to tell us where we can get food or a drink when we checked in. You didn't feel welcomed when arriving. After a long day of travel, we needed a meal, but were in between times at the buffet and that only made the experience worse. But it didn't get any better. By day 3, three people in our party suffered diarrhea which lasted the rest of the trip, likely due to the poor food quality and cleanliness. We are two days home now and still have diarrhea.
The main pools are beside each other and close to the beach, with two bars and a snack bar but with only one bathroom. The bathrooms were a hazard as they are not kept up and it is a danger just trying to walk across the floor for abled people. I'm not sure how elderly or anyone with impaired mobility does it. There are 2/3 working female bathroom stalls for the entire pool area. The pool area likely holds up to 1000 people, so guess where those who didn't want to take their lives into their hands likely went?

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. They should close up and do some much much needed improvements and hire staff that are trained in customer service. It was rare for staff or guests to greet you or say good morning on the very long walks that are needed because the hotel is so spread apart, that walking to meals is needed. Golf carts are there, but not reliable and seem to stop for VIPs but not for regular folks too much.
Beach is horrible. You can't really go in the water because the resort doesn't spend time or money cleaning away the seaweed. The smell is bad.

The picture you have in this ad must be at least 20 years old as the pool does not look that clean and the chairs are in need of repair or the dump. I don't recognize that picture from what we experienced. [Details]

Very Large Resort

Check in was good other than Iwere not clear on the lay out of the resort. I had a hard time finding our building number that they had given us. Later was told by an other guest buildings were by names not numbers, and ours was on the other side of the entrane into our area. Our room was clean when we entered it, but no beverages in the fridge except a couple beer. Our belcony door was broken and would not lock. We went to the front desk it was fixed pretty quickly. ( did hear from many other guests their belcony doors didnt lock as well and looked like alot of main floor quests had sticks in their doors). This is a large resort so lots of walking to get to any place on the resort. They did have staff driving around to pick you up, with that being said we tried flagging down them numerous times and not once did they stop for us even if they were completly empty. As far as our rooms getting cleaned and restocked each day, we did get lots of water. But on a couple of occasions we only got one towel and we never did get face clothes. We did tip especially our room but it didnt seem to make a difference. I found the staff in the main eating area friendly and nice. The staff at the bars were not so friendly and sometimes just right out rude. The bathrooms in common areas were usally broken and instead of lets say 3 toilets there would only be one. So for such a large resort not enough washrooms for sure. Nightly entertainment was good. I enjoyed it. All in all I dont think I would revisit this resort again 1 it was too big for what I like and 2 it didnt feel overly welcomed.
