We stayed in building M on the first floor and there were people talking, shouting and banging from below until about 1:30 in the morning, we found out it was the kitchen area below, in the morning we asked the front desk to move us, we were moved to the top floor in the same building and in this room there was the strong smell of cooking or grease, once home we had to wash our cloths twice to get the smell out, Hotel rating was listed at 4.5 we felt it was maybe a 3.5 Will not be back [Details]

First time in Punta Cana and the Bakour resort. We arrived after midnight the bus ride from the airport should have been 20 minutes but it seemed to most of us it was the drivers first time, he drove extremely slow. When we got to the resort almost an hour later he tried at least 6 times to navigate through the gate and eventually had to let us out on the street. It was a long wait in reception to get registered but Alan was patient and professional. On other occasions Michol was very helpful. We were highly impressed with our 2 bedroom suite, our son had his own in suite bathroom. The room was exactly as the pictures described and we had no issues whatsoever. Our balcony had a great view overlooking the pool. During the day there was aqua-aerobics with the entertainer who was so upbeat and full of energy. The music was never overly loud. You had to get up super early to secure a lounger by the pool. We spent our days at the beach and had no issues. The coffee bar in the lobby serves wonderful cappuccino's by Solanny. You can be greeted at the buffet by the friendly smiling face of Soryma. The food in the buffet was absolutely delicious, I tried almost everything, some things were not to my liking but overall I ate so well and looked forward to meals because there was always something different. Our waiter Wynden was extremely attentive, kind, professional and hard working, also such a joy to see everyday with his great big smile. Ariel in the buffet could also be counted on for great service and a friendly hola. It is a small resort and good for families with small children since there is no 'entertainment' at night, they can get to sleep early. When the pool closes at 7:00 the lights go out except for the colorful decorative lighting in the pool and it becomes very quiet. The snack bar serves good food but stops serving at 6:00pm, Orlean will take good care of you. The Japanese a la carte was fantastic! The Beach bars is open all day and util 1:00am and the daytime bartender Blaurlio is super accommodating. We found the hardest working person on the resort was Yoenni the Beach bars EXCELLENT night bartender, he worked alone all night even with big crowds. He served with speed, precision and such professionalism. He catered to everyone's needs, had your drink ready before you asked, kept the bar and tables spotless. I cannot say enough about his work ethic but to thank him for taking such wonderful care of our family. Although 'entertainers' claimed there were shows nightly, that was NOT the case. On our 2nd night we didn't even know there was a show and only stumbled upon it at the beach bar. We caught the last 2 minutes of them teaching tourist a line dance. The only other show was where they picked 5 women and 5 men and the women had to do a sexy lap dance with the men sitting in chair, very distasteful! They kept saying Wednesday there would be a Michael Jackson show that NEVER happened (they were even spouting this to new tourist the day we were leaving), instead every night 2 or 3 of the 'entertainers' went from table to table soliciting reviews of their 'great' performances. WARNING - They had the nerve to take your cell and put their names in the review and post it (Mamajuana & Pinkis etc. we never even met an entertainer named Baby Face). Which I now know why the reviews I did read mostly mentioned their names, they were ALL coaxed and inflated. I did not obliged because I hadn't seen a show and what little I did see, them doing the Macarena was pitiful and does not account for entertainment. On our last night they had a singer - not from the resort she was ok but that was it for a show. There is room service until 2:00am, the hamburger is ok. Although the room we had was 5 star (our balcony was bigger than some rooms we've had at other resorts) and the food was 5 star the entertainment was a negative -1. I've had better entertainment at 2 & 3 star resorts. The resort General Manager clearly is not doing his job, most staff could not answer basic questions, there was no list of daily activities/entertainment, when bars close etc. The disorganisation was prevalent everywhere, stemming from the top down. When you check out of your room, your suitcases are kept behind reception packed in and some just left in the lobby. If it were not for the amazing staff we met, the review would have been so much worse. [Details]

The weak points
NO entertainment and very little to do. Snack bar closes at 6:00. Mosquitoes in the evening. Murky brown water due to the boats. Not enough loungers by the pool.

the only down part is that there's not much space to walk around, and I'm sure in the near future they will have that as well

Our stay at Bakour Punta Cana Suites was unfortunately very disappointing overall, especially given the expectations we had for a family double birthday trip — though there were a few bright spots worth mentioning.
We arrived late and the resort allowed us to quickly eat at the buffet before it closed, which we appreciated after a long travel day.
However, our suite was not prepared for five guests. There were only four towels provided, with no extra sheets or pillows. It took over 24 hours to receive additional bedding and bottles of water after repeated follow-ups.
The in-room phone did not work, making it impossible to call the front desk or order room service. All communication had to be done via WhatsApp. We were assisted by Saimy at the front desk, whose response time was quite good and appreciated — though solutions still took far too long to be implemented.
There was also an extra fee to decorate the room for our birthday, which typically isn't charged. Im normally away for my bdays and I've never had to pay to have it decorated
The AC stopped working 3 times during our stay. As compensation for the inconvenience, the resort granted us a late check-out, which was appreciated - 2:45 pm (Shuttle pick up was 3:45pm)
The suite itself was a positive: very spacious, condo-style rooms with a beautiful, large balcony. The room also included robes and slippers, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, some amenities fell short — the washer/dryer did not work, there were no utensils in the suite, and there were no garbage bins in living areas, only in the bathrooms.
The fridge is not restocked automatically, including water. Each refill required messaging the front desk via WhatsApp.
The grounds itself was well kept and pool was clean, although we found it difficult to snag a chair or cabana unless you were up at 7am to reserve it. I did appreciate that we could just leave pool towels, not having to worry about returning or trading for new ones.
Food was a major letdown. If you are a foodie, this is not the resort for you. There is only one buffet, with very limited variety. I ate essentially the same meal every day — grilled chicken or fish with one or two rotating sides. There were NO dietary accommodations, and they ran out of soy milk by day four with no replacement. I am dairy and gluten free, hence the repetition of my meals.
That said, Alfonso, the grill chef, was amazing — super friendly and always had my food ready when he saw me. He truly stood out and made the dining experience more enjoyable. The pool bartender, Braurio, was also friendly and provided good service.
There were 2 other great waiters, but their names are escaping me. Waiters were a hit or didn't care, while others saw us and knew our drinks right off the bat.
The beach situation is also misleading. This is not a traditional beach resort — it sits on a marina, with boats docked 24/7. The water was consistently murky due to boats, seaweed, and coral. While staff did try daily to clear the shoreline, it never resembled a picture-perfect beach. If you're someone who values a beautiful beach experience, this is not the resort for you.
Housekeeping was inconsistent. On the first cleaning, they left dirty dishes with food still on the counter and placed the bathroom garbage by the front door instead of removing it. Cleaning times were also very unpredictable — sometimes very early, other times extremely late.
Most concerning was that during one of the cleanings, housekeeping went through my son's belongings and ALL of his money was stolen from his wallet, which was hidden at the bottom of his backpack. Its unfortunate that we had only noticed it when we got back home.
Overall, while the rooms themselves were spacious and a few staff members truly stood out, the resort fell far short in terms of service consistency, food quality, amenities, beach experience, and security.
We definitely would not return nor recommend Bakour Punta Cana Suites, especially for families or anyone expecting a true beach, variety of food and honest workers. [Details]
