The hotel had everything you would need. I am not one for spending much time in my hotel or room for that matter. The beds were very comfy. If I had any complaint, it would be how cramped the rooms are. [Details]

Our vacation started with a flight cancellation and an overnight in a different city. We advised the Roosevelt of our delayed arrival and released the rooms for other guests that were trapped in NYC due to this snow storm. Upon arrival, The Roosevelt stored our bags until our two rooms were ready, they also mentioned a credit for the cancellation will be processed. Being a 1000 room hotel, there were ample elevators with minimal waiting times. The rooms were spacious and furnishings in great condition (only double beds available). We missed having a bar fridge (not advertised) and used the window sills to keep snacks or bottled beverages cool. The windows were not drafty and we did need to adjust to the night time city noises as well as the noise of a radiator heating system. There was not a Keurig available as advertised on the TV Hotel directory. The front desk, cleaning service, room service and concierge were all friendly, helpful and professional. We did have some issues with the TV not connecting to the digital box properly but there was a notice on our floor by the elevators that things were being upgraded. Internet was ridiculously expensive ($15USA per day) but there was a coffee shop across the street which had free WiFi. Food services in the hotel were not as varied as expected. The rooftop dining was closed due to private functions, the main dining room was only open for breakfasts, the 'lobby' bar was small and awkward to eat in and the outside access bar looked like it was undergoing renovations. Room service was excellent. We used taxi to get to/from airport (4 of us , $45 - $50 USA), rather than a shuttle and picked up at Grand Central Station unlimited 7 day bus passes for in city use. There is an easy to miss mailbox drop station located by the elevators. You can watch your postcard drop down the clear slot and hear it flutter it's way down the stories. All I need to do is wait to hear when the mail arrives! [Details]

The strong points
Great location - easy access to bus system and Grand Central Station, yet far enough away from noise and bustle of Times Square. Only hotel advertising 2 double bed rooms available.
The weak points
Food services would be awkward for children. A little more modern services - fridge, coffee maker, WiFi needed.

We had a great time at this old hotel, that has been newly renovated. Close walk to Times Square, Central Park, Rockefellar Plaza etc. Grand entrance, and the people that worked there were very friendly and helpful. [Details]
