The HILTON WAIKOLOA VILLAGE sits on a very large property. In fact there is a train and a boat to take people from one tower to another. If you don't want to wait and choose to walk instead, it can take 15 min to get from the main lobby to either end. The walk to the lagoon beach is also 10min over several stairs/bridges. Great facilities but it can take some time to get around. Highlight is the lagoon full of fish and turtles. costs for drinks/snacks/food onsite is also on the pricey side. However, there is a couple of shopping centers 15min walk outside the resort. There is also a shuttle during the day. This opens up more options for food and drinks. There is also a Walmart in Kona 20min by car to stock up on supplies. Several nearby public beaches. [Details]

The hotel is beautiful as are the grounds. There are more than enough different choices of restaurant types to choose from and lots of pools. Lots of shops, bars, spa, and just a beautiful peaceful place to mingle around during the day or evening. Very relaxed atmosphere. The only thing I wish that they had was a nicer sandier beach on the Ocean. [Details]

The strong points
Very relaxed and quiet atmosphere. Friendly staff. Variety of restaurants & lounges/bars
The weak points
No sandy beaches. Food & drinks were a bit on the pricey side......but we found that in all the places in Hawaii, not just at this Hotel.

The strong points
easy to use and enjoy the entire facility--beautiful setting and grounds. Art collection beyond belief! (@7 mil) Lots of options for dining including a free /very short shuttle ride to ABC, a store that has almost everything including food-at great price
The weak points
the elevators were a pretty good distance from our room so that was a bit of a pain--but the walk seemed to get shorter as the stay went on...
