Riviera Nayarit

It was my first time at Riu. We booked 7 days package. My expectation for food were low. But it was still very disappointing. Staff was racist towards black and brown ethnicities. All liquor counters were swarming with bees. My friends got stung a few times. We booked scuba diving through people in the hotel at higher prices then buying it online, but even still it was a horrible experience as the trainers or expert divers provided us with almost no training and were dropped in the ocean. So it was hard to enjoy the experiences as you are just trying to stay alive and breath.

Overall it was a pleasant stay.

This property was lovely. The staff were friendly and the drinks were amazing. I would recommend this for families as long as you are aware it is not beach front. The gate to the beach was locked and the code did not work. you have to go to Marival to get beach front.

We went with a group of 12 and everyone left happy! The food at both the buffets and the a'la cartes was tremendous both in quality and in choices. Best food of any all inclusive we have ever been to. Beach was good for people who like playing in the waves but a little overwhelming for those who don't. Little bit rocky getting into the water but once in it was fine. Rooms were satisfactory but could use some updating. We had a partial ocean view room and that part was nice. Grounds were well maintained. It was a quieter time of year I think and so there was no issue getting pool chairs and the pool had lots of space. Facility is a little bit remote but if you are just looking for a week of relaxation this a good spot!

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by this resort. It is a low-key resort, perfect for just relaxing around the pool or on the beach. For the week we were there, we never had any issues finding chairs (no getting up at 6 am!) around the pool or under the palapas at the beach. Wait times at the bars for drinks or at the restaurant(s) were almost non-existent; as well, the staff was always very friendly and helpful. We found the food to be better (with decent selection) than expected, and there was no limit in using the two a la carte restaurants and never had a problem getting a reservation. We had a room with no balcony, which would have been nice, but hardly a deal breaker, as we really only spent our time in the room to sleep. The room was adequate and simple, but a fair size. We were on the top (4th floor) and our shower temperature was always hot with decent pressure. As a side note, though the resort area was flat, for people with mobility issues, I believe there was only one elevator to access the different levels of the hotel. My only real 'complaint' was the lack of daily activities. Though they had a board (like most resorts) showing all the different daily activities (volleyball, ping-pong, etc.) very few were actually implemented. As a person who enjoys doing a few different activities on a daily basis, I was disappointed there. For those who just like to lie around soaking up the sun and reading a book, you will find that quite enjoyable there, as the pool area music was not too loud (unlike some resorts), and generally fairly quiet around the resort as a whole.

We were disappointed with this vacation.

The staff there make a huge effort to make sure that you're happy. Every time when we were searching for an item on the buffet Food & Beverage manager Alfonso went into the kitchen and produced it for us. Apparently no one had ever heard of having bacon with your eggs for breakfast or drizzling oil and vinegar on lettuce and other outlandish practices such as toasting a slice of white bread. All in all a pleasant holiday full of surprises and moments of astonishment.

We arrived to a lobby full of locals and plates of food all over and spilled drinks and cups. I must say, as a travel agent walking into this was shocking. We checked in online and still waited 45 min to check in. Room was not what we asked for. As we were walking with the bell boy through the lobby, I slipped and fell from drinks that were spilled on the floor. There was not one caution sigh to be seen. I went to customer relations were Jessy Gomez was very helpful. Went to the room, I could hardly move my neck and had a terrible sleep. The next day Livs Manvel from the front desk who was amazing moved us to a ocean front room. The room and view were beautiful but the weddings everynight with crazy load music was a nightmare. Once again we could not sleep. Food was very good and the servers were the best. The sports bar was the worst because all the servers did was wait on the locals so we left and never went back in. The pool snack bar was the same. All they cared about was the locals. Never went back there either. Pool was small but the amount of locals in the pool was terrible so we spent all the time on the beach. Beach and service on the beach was great. The grounds at this resort were beautiful. I have never seen a resort that was so wonderful to walk around. It is sad to say that I would not return here for the simple fact that the locals take the place over and the ocean front rooms are right above the wedding venue and the music is ridiculous loud. I was at the Grand Palladium Jamaica in Oct 2024 and it was amazing. They need to make some changes at this one.

Amazing from arrival to departure. Excellent food, excellent service. Room was spacious. Whole resort was kept spotlessly clean.
