Puerto Plata

The resort was a lot smaller than we typically vacation at. For some ways, this was good, as service in restaurants and bars was fantastic. However, being so small had less to offer for kids activities.

Everything would be fine if it weren't for the problems with Wi-Fi and the shower. Our complaints didn't go beyond the reception,lack of response from the administration. The first night we covered ourselves only with sheets, and it took more than 24 hours to get blankets.

This was our first time traveling to a resort. Our experience was good for the majority of it. The purpose of this trip for us was to unwind, relax and destress. Our kids are grown, so we decided it was time for us to explore vacations so we can focus on ourselves as a couple. We decided to try traveling to a resort to see if thats the kind of vacation that worked for us. We met Star who was an information specialist and his role was to help explain the amenities at the resort and assist with whatever we needed help with. He asked us some questions about our travels and seemed to be excited about the fact that this was our first time staying at a resort and that we were trying to explore travelling to see what worked for us. He asked us if we wanted to be a part of a promotion that they had going on where first time travellers can win a week stay at the resort. They were chosing only 20 people to participate He said that it was for people who were there for the first time. It would explain to us about their memberships and what they had to offer at the resort becasue they want people to feel like they were family when they stayed there and want them to want to come back. We had reservations about it but went along with it becasue we were intrigued about what the resort had to offer. We were met by a lady who asked us a few questions and took us to the members only area where they had a separate buffet and separate pool. It was designed to give members special benefits because they are a repeat guests and like family. we had breakfast im the members lounge and then she took us to the members suites and showed us the premium and platinum suites. They were for the vip members and gave us of a tour of it. Beautiful rooms, fully stocked bars, then she showed us the private beach area that had vip treatment. After that we went back to the office where we were shown a video explaining the benefits of becoming a member. I fully expected them to try to sell us a membership. What I was not expecting was the ambush and pushyness of the staff. First of all, the membership started at 89 k. They mananger came over and tried to pressure us for 30 minutes to buy a membership, then his manager came, then his manager came. They tried to sell us the cheaper membership that was for the low low low price of 69k US. This went on for 30 plus mins. They tried everything to sell us a membership I have never felt so uncomfortable. We went on this trip to distress and relax, instead we were swarmed by staff and pressured into getting a membership. We did not get one, because im not sure who would pay that to begin with. So we left with a headache and it was a very stressful situation. As nice as the resort was, and as nice as the amenities were. We definitely wont be back. That ruined it for us.

We had a water problem in our bathroom from the floor above. We reported and we were moved to a new room when available. The resort is clean, food is a variety. Water and ice cubes are safe to use just not bathroom taps. The bar staff are friendly and the entertaining staff loveable. Night entertainment started at 10.30 more for a younger crowd. WIFI in lobby and pool only. overall a get vacation!

We had a great stay. The staff were pleasant. The pool(s) were kept up and the bar service was good. The rooms were always clean. Issues were dealt with quickly ( air conditioning broke down, they offered us another room) and they gave us free late check out.

The resort is beautiful. Most employees are very nice too. But resort has problems and it separates by a person's financial status. Problems are: No hot water Nobody picks up phone at reception Takes min 3 calls to get someone to help My TV didn't work Housekeeping doesn't give new towels Fridge doesn't get filled with water or drinks like promised I upgraded my room when buying purchase, but was given wrong lower class room If you have a basic band, food is limited to 2 buffets, Casablanca food is very bad. Pearl is slight above edible There are no snacks available unless your a VIP They try to upgrade you to a package by tricking you into a resort tour. You see everything you are missing and feel trapped. After you reject the package, service gets worse.

We spent a wonderful week at this hotel. It could not be better located in the middle of a golf course and just a few dozen meters from the ocean. The breakfasts were included in the price and they were amongst the best we ever had in the Caribbean. Great variety of fresh fruit, yogurts, juices, breads, pastries and eggs cooked à la carte. The restaurant in the compound is qualified as one of the best in Playa Dorada. We ate there several times and it never disappointed us. We contacted the hotel before travelling and emails were always promptly answered. Elaine Almonte and Katyusha at the reception were always ready to answer our questions and the breakfast staff was also very attentive to our needs. We had a minor problem and the general manager (Mr. José Maria Spart) took care of it immediately and in a very professional way. We were most impressed and pleased. It is without any hesitation that we recommend this hotel.

It was good but no activities, the restaurants were closed, if I knew in advance I would have gone somewhere else. The team there was good.

Enjoyed a pleasant week but didn't experience anything spectacular. Food was passable but nothing stood out. Beach was average but I prefer pure white sand beaches. Satisfied with the stay considering the price paid.
