Lucky Deals Four Varadero

This was my first time in Cuba.I found this resort to be very clean and well kept even tho it's not a modern resort. Not an overly large resort but a great size for a first timer,not too over whelming. The pool was very nice and the beach was to die for!! The food was great above what I expected seeming everyone has told me "you don't go to Cuba for the food" the buffet was large enough you could easily find something to eat, even if you were a picky eater. The snack bar is pretty much 24/7 minus a couple hours which was great. The entertainment was always there, during the day by the pool and beach, I mean you only got like 5 or more chances a day to win a bottle of rum..so horrible eh ;)ha ha, what more could you want. The evening shows were very entertaining. You have to pay for your safe which was mentioned in the hotel description but I was surprised you had to purchase your beach towel tickets. I had assumed you were given one.Mind it wasn't expensive for one and you could switch them out whenever you wanted.The wifi was 2CUC per hour and only available in the main lobby and hall. Worked well in those areas. Free paddle boating, snorkeling , kayaking, and catamaran( if experienced at sailing) on the beach. I had read in previous reviews a few complaints about a lot of mosquitoes being around but I was down in early may and I saw maybe a dozen. perhaps its a time of the year thing. Overall I had a great time and looking forward to heading back next year with my children this time around. [Details]

We purchased a lucky deal in Varadero and a week before leaving we got our assignment to Arenas Doradas. We have nothing but good to say about the resort: beautiful place, well maintained, very friendly staff, everybody was ready to help anytime, the food was great. Would recommend it to anyone anytime! The only thing which could have better is the internet, but it didn't bother us at all. Actually I was happy not to have access to internet during our vacation. [Details]

Solymar Barcelo has great location not far from airport so you don't waste time on the bus transfer. Staff are friendly and ready to help you.
The beach is amazing at this resort. You can share with it's sister hotel next door so you have twice as many restaurant to choose from. Take the tour to Havana as it will be worth it. We had the best time there. Havana is full of cultural and fabulous music. Karen the bartender at the bar between the 2 hotels is the best bartender as well as she can tell you Cubas history if you ask
