Varadero

Upon arriving we were upgraded to Select Oceanview. The staff were amazing and the entertainment was the best I have ever experienced in Cuba. The room and view was perfect. Food was great and the Al a Carte's were excellent. The grounds and resort were beautiful. I have absolutely nothing bad t0 say about my stay at Blau. I will be returning on Feb 14th for a week and can't wait!!

Overall great place to go to enjoy lounging by the pool or beach. Freindly staff who are always ready to assist you.

This was the 2nd time we stayed at the Sol Varadero in 2025 and had an amazing time as we did the 1st time. The resort is very clean and the staff are all friendly and provide amazing customer service. The food was good and we walked miles on the beach and the beach at this resort was the best of them all. We will be going back in 2026 for sure.

The hotel needs a major renovation

It was AMAZING !! But it wasn't amazing because of the sunshine, or the ocean or the fact that I didn't have to cook, clean, launder, work, school drops offs/pickups etc etc. although quite lovely to get a break from all of that! It was amazing because … Months of accumulating suitcases full of clothes, medicine, toys, sneakers, hygiene products, special request items, you name it & gift it to the beautiful people at Azul that I call family now, was and always will be the greatest joy !! It was amazing because… The gratitude that I feel from them, is worth more than any feeling the carribean sea can give me. More than those delicious mojitos from the hard working bartenders. More than my full tummy from the never ending buffets. More than the perfected omelettes at the restaurants. It was amazing because…. When I walk into any room, they know my name and they treat me with the utmost respect. With joy. With love. They know that they can count on me. That if I can… I will. And vice versa It was amazing because… They welcome us into their hearts. They share their stories. The good, the bad & the ugly. They trust us. There are no intentions of betraying us, discouraging us, belittling us or humiliating us. It's all R.E.S.P.E.C.T It was amazing because … The connections i have made with my Azul family are genuine & real. I am grateful. I am blessed. I truly wish I could bring more, do more. There is a piece of my heart that will always be at Azul. I want to thank each and everyone who made trip #3 so special. You are the reason I will always return to Azul. Thank you for being our friends. We are honoured to be welcomed into your country, into your homes and into your hearts Special shout outs…. The one & only ARASAY My soul sister. I love you always and forever!! You lay out the red carpet like no other. A true Queen Jose is the luckiest man !! Livia- Your smile can light up any dark room. Words can't express how welcoming you make us all feel. You are one of the hardest workers I've ever met. You are my girl for life!! Victor- What can I say? You are the bomb!! I wish we got to spend more time with you at the main pool. The sunshine was not on our side this trip but I assure you next time it will be!! Thank you for your #1 service. You are a true friend until the end of time!! Maybetty- Such a beautiful lady. I love our friendship!! You always greet us with open arms. I feel your love from afar. Thank you for being a shining light. You were special to us from trip #1 and will always be special to us no matter what! Jonathan- who has the most contagious energy and smile ?!! This man right here! So proud of him. Was so nice seeing him in the lobby bar instead of the snack bar! That lobby bar has definitely turned its game up with him behind it!!! He deserves all the good things in life. Appreciate you Gilberto- our new addition to our fam. So happy to have connected with him this trip. And now every single trip to Azul we will be so happy to see him. What a gentleman. His customer service is on point. He aims to please and you cannot forget that face: thanks for looking out for us, keeping us laughing and our glasses full!! Tamara - you are adorable. Your energy is powerful. You treated us with such kindness all week long. You kept our room in pristine condition & kept our towels fresh, which is incredibly important to us! Thanks for giving us that feeling of security. You are amazing!! Geidys .. you are a good woman! I love that I can find you in your office with welcoming arms! No matter what problem arises, I know we can count on you to help us. We appreciate that so much. Thank you for being someone we can rely on and i love when we can make each other smile! Yuri- ok honestly, when you offered to walk my son to our room, like it was no problem at all… well that meant so much to me. You are a gem and Azul is lucky to have you! Thank you so much Adrien (premium)- what a sweet gentleman. You have such a contagious energy and smile! This was our first time meeting and I hope it's not the last. I wish you nothing but the best !! Ernesto- thank you so much for taking the time out to make sure our son was take care of by the medics. You really went above and beyond. You showed true compassion and that doesn't go unrecognized. Appreciate you! Last but not least Adrian at the snack bar…. Ok ya know what, when we found out our boy Jonathan wasn't there anymore we were sad. But what a replacement!! We can get behind this 100% … we definitely had a LOT of laughs and some we may not remember Bless you ALL You are always in our hearts and prayers You'll be seeing us sooner than later

A special shoutout to Juanita (front office) we love her, she is a Gem! Also shout outs to Yousdani, also a Gem (buffet & beach bar) Jorges is another fun beach bar server! as well as Jose the gardener, he always has a smile and a quick phone translation chat with us. If you love beautiful beaches and rich cultural experiences, Sol Palmeras in Varadero, Cuba, is a fantastic choice. Having visited for six years with my spouse and adult children, I can say this hotel offers more than just sun and sand. Over time, we've met wonderful people and enjoyed vibrant local music and evening dancing. While the food isn't gourmet compared to what we have at home, it's always satisfying. Cuba isn't about luxury hotels; it's about friendly staff, lively beach activities, and a welcoming atmosphere. If you can bring small solar-powered items to share with locals, it makes a big difference and is deeply appreciated. Whether you're seeking relaxation or connection, this gem in the Caribbean truly feels like a second home. We arrive again next week and can't wait!

We knew what to expect, beautiful beaches, wonderful culture and beautiful Cuban people. Room was very clean and we had everything we needed. We had steady hot water, air conditioning, drinking water, lots of food and alcohol. We were well cared for.

The main hotel lobby and grounds are lovely. Beaches and pools are great as well as the staff are friendly. no toilet paper in main hotel bathrooms most of the time. The rooms are showing age and need some updating. Air conditioner in roof was leaking on floor, wet towel soaking up water on floor not changed by staff. Patio door very hard to move, wheels worn out, towel hanger loose on wall, dirty towels changed only once the whole week. Couldn't get clean pool towels all week. Bathroom mirror needs replacing as all rusty, shower drain clogged as almost overflowed. Phone not working in room, so couldn't call for ride to buffet, long walk for those with issues. but ok for us. Ocean views are great, though we thought we were staying in main hotel, but put in smaller building quite far away on grounds, so don't know how the main hotel rooms were. Food was very nicely prepared, but very repetitive (no beef) and lacking flavour. The drinks were mostly less than good, artificial flavours, not fresh lemons or limes, they put in artificial juices like tang or something similiar. I personally would not go back, heard from others that other hotels had better food an drink, but somehow I doubt it, as Cuba doesn't have access to a lot of things we enjoy normally in Canada. I was told not to expect much, and enjoyed the time there inspite of what I mentioned.

It is the perfect vacation when looking for quiet and relaxation. Entertainment was awesome, we really enjoyed the Canada afternoon. The beach bar and grill had excellent food and drinks. The pool bar also had excellent drinks. The lounge bar was a great place to hang out when it was too windy and wet for the beach.

Overall I would say its decent, not overly impressed by the hotel amenities. but the beach blow me away. So good that if I will just make a recommendation for the beach I will give it at 100%! worth it!
