Amazing time at Paradisus Varadero January 2025!
Family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids (7 and 5) just arrived home from 11.5 wonderful days at Paradisus Varadero! I don't even know where to start: Accomodation: We were in a Ocean front Junior Suite... arrived at check in and within 20 minutes we were brought to our amazing room. We were in room 2713 and the view was amazing! It overlooks the beach and is on the ground floor. We had originally asked for 2nd floor so I was upset we didn't get it, but I'm glad we didn't have it in the end. The bed was an actual pillow top and comfortable! Janet our Maid was absolutely amazing! So friendly and super great with the kids. We had a leak in our bathroom and she made sure the mechanic came to check out and gave us lots of towels and blankets upon request. She is an incredible human! Water was hard to get but if you asked the right people and gave a little extra tip you got what you needed no problem. Our flight got delayed a day and they were super accommodating, within 1 hour we had our same room back and we were back at the beach after a stressful 1 hour! We also had hot showers everyday except our last one! Beach: 10/10 the nicest beach in have been to. The sand is so soft and fine, the beach was cleaned almost daily (the tractor didn't come 1 day). The beach chairs were plenty..we didn't have to struggle at all the get a chair (not need to wake up at 6 to reserve a spot). The ocean is right in front so no walking to get to the beach which was great. Very few people asking you to buy things. Free watersports like kayaks, paddle boats and 20 min sail boat ride. Grounds: kept super clean, dry but they were kept nicely trimmed and clean. The gardeners are super friendly, especially Orlando and his friend made little hats and grasshoppers and flowers out of grass for the kids and brought us fresh coconuts! Really friendly guys! Lobby bar: not the friendliest staff, the gentlemen working seemed to ignore the kids when they wanted a drink. The female staff were friendly enough. Stock of drinks was touch and go... some days they had pina coloda and some they didn't! Some days they had cola and some they didn't and they ran out of carbonation on day 3 of our trip, but beggers can't be choosey and the drinks were still good no matter what. Never ran out of rum! FOOD: We went with low expectations which was good! There was not a shortage of variety. Everyday we ate fried eggs and bread (we brought peanut butter) and there was bacon (we took to the grill for extra cooking) and there was always churros and variety of fruit and meats! We never ate lunch so can't comment on that except we ate spring rolls, banana chips and pork burgers from the pool grill daily (yummmm). Dinner was good, lots of variety... chicken, rice, beans, bread, pizza, pasta was our families choice but they had a lot of seafood and other variety. Always had icecream and it was delicious! A la Carte: we went to fuego (didn't like it), bana (didnt like it), Japanese- this was delicious and a good show and finally Italian- this was the best restaurant, we went back 3 times. Wood fired pizza, pasta carbonara with bacon and ham and delicious desert. They sent us on our first Thursday to a Canadian party at another hotel! If this gets offered to you...GO! So much fun, super safe and good food and entertainment! Pool: The pool was cold so there was basically no one in it, lots of seagull pool on the middle island but that didn't stop us from going. We enjoyed 3 pool days and the pool bar staff Anna and the other gentleman working with her there were super friendly and even walked to the lobby to get us our drinks of choice! Great people! I just want to do a special shout out to our favorite staff: Rosyta Padron, Kenia Aguilera and Samantha from the Buffet! Always tentative and accommodating. 2 of these women got laid off while we were there, made me cry for them. The hotel is struggling right now because of poor reviews so they lost their jobs due to low occupancy. Cuba needs us more now then ever. Stop reading the negative reviews and give this place a chance. We had an amazing trip! We almost canceled because of all we read, so glad we didn't! In talking to so many others at the airport sounds like we were very lucky compared to what other people experienced.. we never went hungry and we were always taken care of! Gracias por todo Hotel Paradisus Varadero- Cuba !!! See you again!

Honest review of melia internacional
Hello, I recently went to the Melia International. I wanted to write an honest review with all the rumors going around these days about Cuba. It's been several years since I last went, and I let myself be misled by the rumors. Here's my review: For the pros, the number of beach chairs is great; there are plenty on the beach, you don't even need to get up early to reserve one! There are also quite a few chairs by the pool, but definitely fewer than at the beach. The staff is very kind and pleasant. The hotel is about 20-30 minutes from the airport. The beach is super clean, the sand is really soft, and the water is beautiful. The hotel is located close to a place where you can rent a car/scooter. There are plenty of taxis around the hotel. You're also not far from downtown Varadero, where there are vendors selling their art/products. There's a “snack bar” that's open 24/7, and there's a place to get ice cream. The minibar is restocked every day. There are a lot of pros! For the cons, I recommend bringing a bottle of water when you eat, as the service for refilling glasses isn't great. We had a room issue; it wasn't in new condition. We couldn't turn off the bathroom light, but the technicians provided great service and fixed it. The food is okay, it's repetitive, but you have to expect that when you choose to travel to Cuba. Our flight was at 10 pm, but check-out is at 12 pm. If you want to keep your room longer, they charge $20 US per hour. Also, if you want to enjoy your day and keep your beach towel, they charge $30 US per hour. If you have an evening flight, I would recommend bringing your own towel so you don't have to pay this annoying price to keep your beach towel longer. Overall, the trip was good. Our week went well, the only thing is we only had 3 beautiful, warm, sunny days; the rest was cloudy and windy. If you plan to travel there, I would recommend bringing some warm clothes. The evenings can be quite chilly at times.

So much fun and relaxation
Great Resort . We just spent a month at Cuatro Palmas Hotel in Varadero . This is a very compact , well run , and very clean hotel , we enjoyed ourselves greatly . Hotel has everything you will need for a good vacation . Location right in town . Beach is excellent . The staff are excellent . Our maid Anelis is a sweetheart , and a very hard worker, thank you so much Anelis for making Angie's birthday special , with your beautiful birthday room decorations and birthday song , Angie was so surprised and happy . My little buddy Mario at the pool became a good friend, and takes pride in keeping his pool in top shape , he is very dedicated and the hotel is lucky to have him . Rosey ( quality control ) and David ( public relations ) were always around to ask how we were doing and making sure everything was fine . All the staff are excellent , they even made it fun during the hurricane and country wide blackout , with parties , beers, food ,and entertainment in the lobby ( hotel has big generator ) ... it actually was a fun experience . Food was very good , you will not go hungry ... " Hola Marlainne !!! " my long time friend , from back in the past (Old Hotel Internacional) , that works in the Buffet (head waitress). The entertainment team is top notch and they keep the place hopping with activities , they definitely are NOT lazy . All the bartenders , security , and front desk staff are all very good . We had a great time .. thanx to all at the hotel . John y Angie

Stay at Iberostar Lagunza Origin
Whwn arrived we were greeted nicely by staff. Checkin was seamless. The room appeared to be ok when we gor in. Sheets were clean and we got clean towels daily. Toiletries including toilet paper and shampoo were in our room. Hair dryer, iron and iron board were in the room as well as a safe. The refrigerator was not stocked with anything. Empty. Our room was cleaned daily, however there was a leak in the washroom. It was never addressed although we told staff about it. We just had to step in or walk over the water in the washroom which went all the way down to the front door. The TV had no remote. Nightly entertainment wasn't too bad. The entertainers danced ans performed well. The disco room was just us standing outside. The music wasn't all that so most nights just a few people stood there. At the poolside the entertainment/ activities were not much. Just play a theme song and they asked people to dance to the routine, that's all. Then you just sit at the pool and look in space while music is being played. The music wasn't the best. Just once I saw them doing a golf activity which lasted for about 30mins and that was it. The beachside, boring. But you can relax. The pool water was so cold. Most days it was empty. The food! Food was there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner...but....the taste! No spices, condiments were not much, menu was almost the same daily. But I went with an open mind so I ate. The 24hr snack bar.....hmmmm I don't know about this. Went once....only 3 containers of pasta. Went another time it's the left overs from dinner....hmmmm The staff were friendly. They always greeted us whenever they walked by. Overall I'd say it's a 3.5 star rating hotel/experience.
