Our trip was amazing
We stayed at this hotel for a week as a family with two kids, and everything went beyond expectations. Before the trip, I was a little nervous, but the experience turned out to be truly wonderful. As a travel agent, I wanted to explore this property myself, to better understand and recommend it to future clients. Even without mentioning my profession, I noticed how warmly and equally the staff treated every guest. Their friendliness and helpfulness made a big difference. We were given two spacious, clean, and comfortable rooms where everything worked perfectly, including the air conditioning. The food was another highlight – while the variety was not huge, the quality and taste were excellent, much better compared to other hotels I've visited in Varadero. The Japanese à la carte restaurant was outstanding, and the main buffet also impressed us. Only desserts felt weak – limited options and not very tasty, though the ice cream was delicious, and our kids couldn't get enough of it. The snack bar was also rather limited in choice and flavor. The beach was simply amazing – beautiful sand, clear water, and the perfect place to relax and recharge. That alone made the trip worth it. The only real disappointment was the internet connection. Compared to Varadero, it was noticeably weaker here. It often cut off, worked only in certain areas, and was not reliable enough for constant work.

Iberostar Selection Holguin
Mixed feelings abut this vacation. While the location and the beaches are splendid, the hotel was a mix of everything. Not exactly what we expected but OK overall. The food - like the Cuban food. A lot of everything but without any attempts to avoid contamination of different dishes, meats, cleanliness. Not sure if it is lack of knowledge or ignorance. The pool water was extremely clean but the pool area could use a lot of power washing as the mold has settle in the paving stones and decorative walls around the pools. Nothing that a good power wash cannot resolve. Also the beach chairs both at the pool and the beaches are in desperate needs to be replaced, as the filth has fused with the fabric of the chair and the mold is happily growing in all the nooks and crannies of the plastic chairs. At the swim bar by the main pool, of the left side of the countertop there was a band aid left by someone for 2 whole days, before it disappeared. Also what struck me this time was that except the employees working on the reception and front entrance, no one was even trying to smile, I mean they are only working in the hospitality industry, right? They were all too occupied asking the guest to change the coins or dollar bills into higher denominations. Big shout to the maids who made every effort to clean and decorate our rooms with towel art everyday. Not coming back to this resort for sure.

Home Away from Home
This was ours 12th time to this little hidden gem on the stunning white sand beach of the turquoise waters of Playa Esmeralda. The reasons we keep coming back is the amazing staff that pays attention to every detail and makes you feel like family. The food and presentation here has always been great. Cuban travelers know not to expect fine dining, and we know there can be certain shortages, but what they do with what they have is amazing. Never notice the shortages because there is always an abundance of other things to eat. The resort itself is always spotless, and the beautiful mature grounds kept in pristine conditions. The pool, even though I'm not a pool guy, was also always clean, cool, and lots of action and activities around it daily. Swim up bar always delivering tasty drinks with a smile. Now the beach....this beach is absolutely stunning! Huge semi private beach (Paradisus next door) that is never too crowded, white sands, renovated beach bar/restaurant "La Pinta", and lots of umbrellas or natural palm tree and mangrove trees to offer shade. And luck us, you can snorkel right from the beach, along the right far side (Paradisus) and see beautiful coral, fish and ocean life. A catamaran arrives almost daily bringing other resorts paying people there to snorkel. My wife and I go solo occasionally, especially since some excellent prices can be found, but we also have been with friends, our family, and a wedding. All parties have always loved the place, and most have been back 2,3,5 times since. It will always be our home away from home with the great friends we've made there, and we will continue to return...next one is already booked for October. Lol
