Great vacation!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Azura Beach Resort in Costa Rica, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The resort is located right on the coast, and the beach was beyond incredible—pristine sand, clear blue water, and the perfect place to relax or enjoy exploring the area and other beaches.

What truly made the stay memorable, though, was the staff. Everyone was exceptionally helpful, friendly, and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Whether it was at the front desk, in the restaurants, or on the beach, the service was much appreciated by us.
We really liked the small boutique style of the resort as well. Not a lot of people to deal with.
Overall, Azura Beach Resort offered an amazing blend of natural beauty and excellent service. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tropical getaway! [Details]

The strong points
Our favourite parts about this hotel were the staff, the beach and the pool. We were there with a group and we all enjoyed our time.
The weak points
The only thing we weren't too keen on was the bathroom in our room. We had a Junior Suite Partial Ocean view which had a wide trough like sink with 2 taps and the drain in the middle. The lack of counter space because of this was a little challenging.

This was our first all inclusive experience in many years and first trip to Costa Rica. Overall the staff deserves extra special mention as they are amazing, working long days and always smiling.
The resort itself was lovely, although two weeks may be too long with limited restaurant choices. The neighbouring villa amenities are available to Azura guests though this was never communicated to us. There were 4 restaurant choices open to us with varied hours. One choice for breakfast, two for lunch, and 3 for supper. Supper reservations needed to be made early, only one day at a time. All done through one single concierge who was often overwhelmed as she also does all day trip excursion bookings.
The pool is small but so is the resort, it never felt crowded. Pool bar service was great! Food can be ordered from the swim up bar, just ask.
The resort shuts down at 10pm. This is not a party place. Average age is 45 . This isn't a drawback as long as it's what you want.
Spa offered massage packages and we were pleased with the service.
Walking to town was hot but very doable. Approx 2.5 km each way.
We were able to see monkeys just off resort (go left at the beach, follow to the road and go left again). Most frequently there around sunrise and sunset.
Beach is sandy, water warm.
Location is approx 2.5 hour shuttle ride from the Liberia airport. Most excursions were full day trips due to location. [Details]

A quiet, relaxing experience in the first week with attentive staff, outstanding food and fascinating experiences. It became busier and somewhat less relaxing in the second week but service remained well above expectations [Details]

Return to Azura- March 3-13th

Lovely boutique style small resort, beautifully designed ! 2 hours from Liberia Airport hence we booked 10 days but met guests who were here for 5.
Great staff ! From front desk to gardeners. Servers the best - Jose, Rolondo, Randy, James, Juan,
Ethan, Issac, Benjamin, Neo. Tao head server ? first impression not good- went on to see this guy is a perfectionist . Only two I recognized from last year. Management when your guests are happy with service pay attention to your employees.

Rooms clean and large lots of room - Run the water never an issue with hot water or towels.

Food - was missing the mammoth calamari from last year more like the frozen we get back here .
Tao - up on the third floor this year very good sushi , Pad Thai bring back the Tempura Ice Cream please ;)
Chill n Grill Fish Tacos, Chicken Wings - a very nice varied menu ,great little spot. Music is now available here in the evenings very low key. We had a CR dance group one night which we enjoyed.
Bocotta Italian again a winner ...well if you are Italian you might beg to differ.
Would we return - second time here so not sure but nothing on the fault of ABR.
Try the ATV tour from the resort Wilbur is your guide his English is rusty but so is my Spanish. We did this last year with him and ventured out again.
If you want to see more CR sights you are bit far removed.
We met some great guests .
Thank you Azura [Details]

Lovely Spot!

We travelled to Costa Rica for the first time Feb 18 - 25, 2020

Lovely, new and modern resort. Rooms were great and staff were lovely. If you are looking for white sand, crystal waters (it is on the Pacific side where waters are more merky due to huge tides and volcanic sands) and partying into the evening, this resort is not for you. If you are looking to unwind and relax in the beauty that is Costa Rica, you will love it. Still going through some growing pains, but we would for sure return.

Happy to answer any questions.... [Details]

Good and hopefully getting better

Azura is a fairly new resort outside of Playa Samara and 2 hours from the nearest airport in Liberia. We were there over Christmas of what is their first holiday season. While the potential to be a great resort is there, they are still working through kinks in their services (i.e., housekeeping missing rooms, running out of clean towels, low on some spirits and food as well as not enough servers in restaurants). Hopefully with time these will improve.
We loved the pool and beach area which are both easily accessible from the rooms. The food at all three restaurants was good although sometimes the wait for service was a bit long.
There was some live music most nights but only until the bar closed at 10pm. There is very little in terms of party/nightlife otherwise.
Biggest suggestion for improvement is have the non-motorized beach activities available to your guests without an additional cost. It's a 4 star resort, we are already paying quite a bit, the kayaking and paddle boarding etc... should be included. [Details]

My wife and I stayed at this resort for our honeymoon. We were looking for a quiet place that we could enjoy each others company and enjoy some drinks and great meals.
Azura beach resort was definitely the right place for us.
The front desk staff were very courteous and made sure everything was right. They sent up a bottle of wine up to our room as a congratulations to our honeymoon, it was very thoughtful and much appreciated.
The bar staff were great and our main bartender Kevin was on point with the drinks, always making sure they were made consistently and right to our liking.
Jefferson was the chef in the grill n chill bar/restaurant and he was phenomenal. Five star quality food. From a simple burger to mahi mahi grilled he did a great job. If it wasn't on the menu he would always find a way to make it for you. My wife requested some spicy fries and he definitely delivered, so much so, that the rest of the guests were requesting them as well. So if you see spicy fries on the menu when you get there, you know who to thank ;)
Overall our stay couldn't have been better.
Thank you to all the staff at the resort. You made it a trip to remember. [Details]

Fantastic food and drinks. Everything was a la carte and made this feel like a 5star plus resort. First resort I've stayed at that the wifi is everywhere on the grounds and you don't have to pay any extra.
The weak points
Would have been nice to have some more variety of entertainment, but rainy season might have affected that portion. I think the bedsheets May be too high a thread count -not very breathable.

Great Week at Azura Beach Resort

New modern hotel with beautiful detail in design. If you are looking for a quiet week in a peaceful environment, this would be a great choice. We went off shore fishing and took some surf lessons, which added to our experience. Carillo Beach (20 minute walk) is a spectacular beach not far away and allows you to see a multitude of wildlife, on the way. [Details]
