Moana Surfrider

Hotel is a historic victorian style building situated in the centre of very busy downtown Waikiki. Our room overlooked the courtyard with a bit of an Ocean view with a balcony. The room had a large king bed as described, which was too soft, the safe had a malfunction and needed repair, had to ask for another coffee maker since it leaked, and the phone jack was corroded and had to be replaced for the phone to work. Service was excellent in repairing all of the above mentioned items, almost lost the use of a safe since we were told to move rooms or live without a safe if it couldn't be fixed. Bathroom needs to be updated for the price package we paid for 14 days and water pressure was low. Entertainment was great in the hotel, nightly in the lounge, and by the Beachside Bar. Drinks and food over priced in the hotel and everywhere in Waikiki. Pool too small, filled with children all of the time so we rented an umbrella on the beach most of the time. Hardly could get a lounge chair near the pool. People saved the chairs by 6 a.m. and left them with their blankets on them. This should have been monitored better by the pool side workers. Concierge service was great and available. Service desk was wonderful. Small laundry facilities in the basement to use if needed. All in all, had a very nice time at the hotel but would choose another one next time we go with less families, larger pools (one for the kiddies), more lounge chairs. [Détails]

This was our second time in less than two years that we've stayed at the Moana Surfrider hotel. The first time we stayed at the Diamond wing with the city view, this previous time we've stayed at the same Diamond wing but requested the Ocean view for a premium price, well worth the money as long as you don't have a problem with the noise at night with the surf wave. This is a wonderful hotel located right on the beach. My only complain was the glasses in the room. We were there for 7 days and they were never put through a dishwasher. I know this for sure because I put a small dab of pale nail polish on the bottoms of the glasses and the same glasses were in the room the entire time. Makes you wonder what they dried them with when they rinsed them out in the bathroom. I always had to rewash them as best I could before using them. This is a great five star well run hotel and I expected better. [Détails]
